COVID-19 Notice

At Pepco, safety is our top priority. As part of our commitment to safety, we’re closely monitoring developments related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and taking appropriate precautions to protect the health and safety of our customers, employees, and contractors. At this time, we strongly encourage virtual meetings and any scheduled appointments under the Energy Savings for Business Program will continue only with prior consent from the customer. Participating contractors will follow the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) recommended precautions. Please check back soon for updates.

Retail companies spend nearly $20 billion on energy each year. Through improvements in energy performance, retailers can reduce costs, increase customer satisfaction, and enhance corporate profitability, all while reducing the carbon footprint of retail stores. A 10% decrease in energy costs has an equivalent impact on operating income as a 1.26% increase in sales for the average retail store.

Customer service and satisfaction is the number one priority in the retail sector, and retailers can be hesitant to engage in activities that can be perceived as reducing comfort, convenience, or the brand experience. However, through improvements in energy-efficiency, retailers can increase customer comfort and display social responsibility to consumers—adding value to the brand and enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty. Retailers can reap these benefits while reducing operating expenses.1

The Many Benefits of Energy-Efficient Upgrades

  • Reduce energy and water costs
  • Increase employee comfort
  • Enhance light and air quality
  • Reduce maintenance and extend equipment life
  • Contribute to a more sustainable future

Earn Cash Incentives

Retailers can take advantage of Pepco’s standard incentives for installing new, energy-efficient equipment. Cash incentives are also available to customers planning unique equipment and system upgrades and industrial process improvements. If you are planning energy-saving improvements that are not eligible for standard incentives, you may be eligible for custom incentives.

Pepco pays cash incentives for qualifying energy-efficient improvements, such as:

Additional Incentive Opportunities

Additional Savings

Enhanced incentives are offered through the Small Business Program. If your building has a monthly demand of 60 kW or less over a twelve month period, you may be eligible for a Quick Energy Check-Up (QEC) and enhanced incentives. The QEC and the installation of low cost measures (up to $250) will be completed at no additional cost by a service provider of your choice.

Project Snapshot

Retailers have access to technical and financial resources to improve lighting, upgrade heating, ventilation and controls systems and build high-performance buildings. Below is an example of a recently completed project at a local retail store. Pepco supported the project with advice early in the process and cash incentives after the system was installed, helping the customer save money, improve comfort and boost productivity.
