MEA EmPOWER Maryland CHP Grant Program
In support of Maryland’s ongoing efforts to enable sustainable energy development, the Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) has announced a new program designed to further encourage Combined Heat and Power (CHP) growth. Promoted under the name “MEA EmPOWER Maryland CHP Grant Program” or “MEA EmPowerMdCHP”, the new program will target Healthcare and Publicly Owned Wastewater Treatment facilities throughout Maryland. These two industries have been selected because of the inherent requirement for enhanced electricity resiliency in their facilities. In this manner, the program will help ensure the health, safety, and well-being of Maryland’s citizenry. Additionally, the efficiency gains realized by commissioning CHP systems will also help to make progress towards Maryland’s clean energy goals including the generation of renewable energy (biogas/biomass), reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions, and reducing waste streams.
