COVID-19 Notice

At Pepco, safety is our top priority. As part of our commitment to safety, we’re closely monitoring developments related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and taking appropriate precautions to protect the health and safety of our customers, employees, and contractors. At this time, we strongly encourage virtual meetings and any scheduled appointments under the Energy Savings for Business Program will continue only with prior consent from the customer. Participating contractors will follow the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) recommended precautions. Please check back soon for updates.

The nation’s 17,450 K-12 school districts spend more than $6 billion annually on energy, while higher education facilities spend close to $2 billion each year. As much as 30% of an educational facility’s total energy is wasted. Pepco has solutions to help administrators increase the energy efficiency of school buildings and facilities by adopting a strategic approach to energy management which can lower energy bills by 30% or more. In addition to cost savings, energy efficiency can help you reduce maintenance costs and extend your equipment life while creating healthier, more comfortable learning and work environments.1

Pepco offers cash incentives for the installation of qualified energy-efficient equipment that can help you reduce energy use and lower operating costs. Efficient upgrades to lighting, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning equipment, and commercial kitchen equipment can help your school reduce operating and maintenance costs as well as reducing environmental impacts. The savings you realize on energy costs go straight to your bottom line. Many upgrades pay back their investment in less than three to five years. A well-designed energy efficiency project can also significantly improve lighting and indoor air quality—features that are essential for learning, health, and the well-being of students and staff.1

The Many Benefits of Energy-Efficient Upgrades

  • Reduce energy and water costs
  • Increase employee comfort
  • Enhance light and air quality
  • Reduce maintenance and extend equipment life
  • Contribute to a more sustainable future

Earn Cash Incentives

K-12 schools and higher education facilities can take advantage of Pepco’s standard incentives for installing new, energy-efficient equipment. Cash incentives are also available to customers planning unique equipment and system upgrades and industrial process improvements. If you are planning energy-saving improvements that are not eligible for standard incentives, you may be eligible for custom incentives.

Pepco pays cash incentives for qualifying energy-efficient improvements, such as:

Additional Incentive Opportunities

Additional Savings

Enhanced incentives are offered through the Small Business Program. If your building has a monthly demand of 60 kW or less over a twelve month period, you may be eligible for a Quick Energy Check-Up (QEC) and enhanced incentives. The QEC and the installation of low cost measures (up to $250) will be completed at no additional cost by a service provider of your choice.

Project Snapshot

Schools and colleges have access to technical and financial resources to improve lighting, upgrade heating, refrigeration and build high-performance buildings. Below is an example of a recently completed project at a local school. Pepco supported the project with advice early in the process and cash incentives after the system was installed, helping the customer save money, improve comfort and boost productivity.
